PARKING SERVICES NEWS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 20, 2023

ISSUED BY: Parking Services

SUBJECT: (Update) 140 West Parking Deck Repair Project

CONTACT: parking@townofchapelhill.org

The 140 West parking deck restoration/waterproofing project is underway, and construction started January 16th. Please be aware the traffic pattern on the public parking level will be affected.  Please give yourself extra time when parking in 140 West during this construction period. The closest overflow parking is at 415 West Franklin Street. We will see impacts to the lower-level spaces and coordination has been communicated to the 140 West Condominium Association, so please be on the lookout for that messaging.

The continued work will block access to the EV charging stations for 3 weeks starting January 16th, 2023. The Town has free charging stations at Town Hall (405 MLK JR Blvd.) during this interruption. The project is expected to be completed by the end of March 2023.

All dates and timeframes are weather dependent and may be adjusted as needed.
